Cougar Ridge, Mount Baker

September 29, 2007

We were supposed to do a camping trip this weekend but the weather was most definitely not cooprating so we decided to make the best of it and do a day hike. Since the forecast called for yuck, getting yuckier around 2pm on Saturday, we got up at 4am in hopes of hiking up into the alpine for sunrise. Unfortunately we ended up running late after genreal lateness, stops for coffee and doughnuts and holdups at the border but we still got to see a beautiful sunrise from the Mt. Baker highway and enjoyed not totally terrible weather for our hike up Cougar Ridge. Jim (who is visiting from England) was excited to see snow. Monty had his first driving lesson on the way home as he drove most of the way down the logging road. We all got some fresh air and exercise so all in all, not a bad day out.
